Maybe there are things that are not designed to death, well at least not yet. Maybe there is still so much room for exploitation, and people are not there yet.

Fong said he was sick of cubes already. On the contrary, I disagree with what he said. Cubes have the biggest potential to play with the spaces inside, without being distracted by the shape of the volume. Cube is the simplest form of a volume, which allows for viscous manipulation.

While dragging my tired arse home today, I've been thinking about my recent lack of motivation. I doubt it is the holiday mood because I have been feeling so bland the entire holiday. My lack of festive mood, my lack of enthusiasm for any new years resolution and my dread to start school.

I think I have been taking too many things for granted. In the sense that nothing fascinates me anymore - everything has been done before. I am in this stage where I am waiting for something to wow me.

And then I realised, I need to stop waiting for something to blow me away, but instead look (or perhaps make) for things that intrigue me. Time to stop waiting, and to start looking.

So hence, my new year's resolution:

I've been so uninspired recently. Like everything has been designed to death, and there's not much variation in life. It seems like architecture has become an equation, a linear path and the resulting end, the same.

Had my first chaos lecture today and what I got out of the one hour documentary is that nature is not linear, never predictable yet patterns exists. An irony but together.

We are going to be designing with nature.

And if nature is chaotic, let our architecture be chaotic.

I hope to be the anomaly from now on.

I need to get out of my concrete bubble before I lose all passion.

On a side now, I think Alan Turing looks like Zac Effron.

Being in Tange's gymnasium on the first day of the new year made me so inspired for the coming semester.

Saw some Herzog & de Meuron, Sanaa, Ito and Ando today. Wanted to walk further for Maki's spiral but it was too dark by then.

Yesterday's Metabolist exhibition was amazing! There were so many models and videos and interviews and information about everything to do with the Metabolist. I wished I had more time to go through them all slowly.

The 21 21 design site was closed, so I missed Issey Miyake X Irving Penn exhibition. Damn. Was really looking forward for that.

I had a lot of fun today with my family.

Oh and apparently there was an earthquake in Tokyo today.

My dad said he felt something and we all laughed at him.

I really loved the rain today.

Went back to studio to clear everything and even though I haven't been working in studio for about a month, it made me quite sad. Remembered how I felt so foreign sitting there in the beginning and then I started filling up my locker and the whole place felt quite homely for awhile.

I just woke up from yet another nightmare about school.

This time it was the day of final crit and I was totally not prepared. And the strangest thing was that there was an open shower in every studio and I started showering in one and everyone was watching me.

Becoming mortified at the realization that you are naked in public, reflects your vulnerability or feelings of shamefulness. You may be hiding something and are afraid that others can see right through you. Metaphorically, clothes are a means of concealment. Depending on the type of clothes you wear, you can hide your identity or be someone else. But without them, everything is hanging out for all to see. You are exposed and left without any defenses. Thus your naked dream may be telling you that you are trying to be something that you really are not. Or you are fearful of being ridiculed and disgraced. Such anxieties are elevated especially in situations where you are trying to impress others. Perhaps you are in a new work environment or in a new relationship. You may be expressing fears or apprehension in revealing your true feelings in such situations.

Nudity also symbolizes being caught off guard. Finding yourself naked at work or in a classroom, suggests that you are unprepared for a project at work or school. You may be unprepared in making a well informed decision. With all eyes on you, you fear that some flaw will be brought to public attention. You fear that people will see through your true self and you will be exposed as a fraud or a phony.

Stayed in bed for the entire day because of my damn cramps.

I miss my old house.

I miss my old room. I actually like it better than my new room. But I like my room a lot now because I put a work table in front of the huge glass door facing the road, and it is so messy with wood and cardboard everywhere. And there are A1 papers strewn over the floor with my sketches and architecture library books on the platform. It feels like a studio now. Now I need a soft slouchy couch for the platform so I can stay in more and read.

Yesterday I was in my room and I heard my mom speaking teochew to someone. And at that instant I thought she was talking to my grandma. It was like I was transported back to a familiar time.

I feel so strange nowadays. Like I don't feel I am myself anymore. I wish I knew why. I think someone inside of me knows, but she just doesn't want to admit it. Because by admitting it, it changes everything. And we all know how I feel about change.

Wabi-sabi (侘寂) represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience. Lazy morning/afternoon. I don't want to do work so I'm just looking at photos to get some ideas for the new assignment on scale, space and atmosphere. And reading up on Bruno Munari (whom I shall write on for my ideas and approaches essay) and futurism.

Very strong inertia to do work which is bad because the amount of work due on monday is insane.

Stumbled upon this very old photo (3 or 4 years ago in hong kong with my holga) and I don't know why I've never noticed it before.

The routine of school is sinking into me and I like it. Even though it means spending all my time in school, I like what I'm doing. I just hope I have more time to do more things. Read, and perfect everything.

I really like my idea for my assignment and I hope Jiat Hwee will like it too tomorrow during crit.

I wanted to post about something non-school related, and then I realised that other that school, I have nothing to talk about.

The view from my bed.

There are no windows in my house, only large glass panes.

A house doesn't feel like a house without windows.

Was babysitting this little girl when my grandma's old cell came over for cell group.

She loves crawling on the cow rug.

I had a debate with my dad a few days ago about whether it is right to have a rug made out of real cow skin. I was against it but I guess my dad made sense. Since we are going to eat the meat, we should make use of the skin as well.

I went to make my specs for school today, and I'm going to get my remaining materials from Artfriend with Enshen on Sunday.

What a cool idea for a doodle book.

Got my studio mates and tutor today.

At first I was quite apprehensive about them, both my studio mates and tutor, but right now, I'm quite happy I got what I have.

I am quite open-minded about Jiat Hwee (my tutor) now, especially after talking to Theodore, who convinced me that he is a good one.

And I think I'm going to have fun with my studio mates.

Tonight is going to be a sleepless night for me because I slept for 13 hours last night, plus a nap after dinner. So I'm just going to snuggle under my blanket listening to The Beatles and reading my book.
